Working capital: what it is and how to begin
Working capital is breathing-room cash you keep in the business after closing so it can pay near-term bills before customer cash catches up. It is not “revenue left over” and it is included in Acquisition Quest’s estimated total cash from you. Start with payroll, rent, utilities, supplies or inventory, known near-term repairs, and slower weeks or seasonal dips. AQ example only: one buyer might total two months of those near-term operating needs, then refine the amount with the seller and lender. The right amount varies too much by business for a universal recommendation.
